He is accredited by the VA for filing claims for the Aid and Attendance benefit for wartime veterans.

More often than not, the first contact to our office is from a family member who is caring for a loved one who is declining either mentally or physically. The decline in mental capacity may be from dementia, Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease. We make sure the proper estate planning documents are in place, with the correct "elder law" trigger language for asset protection for government benefits planning. We then advise on protecting assets and qualification for Medi-Cal and VA benefits, and we apply for these programs for our clients.

About Me

Michael Young, born in northern California, has been licensed as an attorney in the State of California since 1977. He has over 20 years of experience as an estate planning attorney, with a special focus on elder law. Michael specializes in elder law estate planning, probate and trust administration, Medi-Cal qualification, Alzheimer's care, Veteran's benefits, Hospice Care and more.

Michael Young is the author of the Alzheimer’s Legal Survival Kit as well as his monthly newsletter entitled Elder Law Today. Michael has also written several pieces on Medi-Cal planning and qualification, estate planning in California, hospice care and Veteran's benefits.

Mr. Young makes presentations regarding estate planning and Elder Law and on the legal issues faced by families who have a loved one with Alzheimer's disease. Presentations are generally held in the San Francisco bay area. Michael is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
