Jimmy D. Long, Jr. The Law Firm of Jimmy D. Long, Jr., L.L.C.

Jimmy D. Long, Jr. I am the Founder and President of the Law Office of Jimmy D. Long, Jr., L.L.C., and Long Financial Services, L. L. C., with offices in Natchitoches and Alexandria, Louisiana.  My firm is one of only a few firms in the state that provides both legal and financial solutions for retirees and pre-retirees.

My holistic approach to planning allows me to provide my clients with a more comprehensive and coordinated legal and financial plan that is often not achieved through the more common piecemeal planning approach of some firms.

My planning philosophy comes from many years of experience seeing clients who have been sold inadequate or inappropriate legal documents or financial products, only to find that gaps, inconsistencies, and failure to properly integrate all the parts of the puzzle resulted in unforeseen consequences and unfulfilled goals and expectations.

My services include: estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives; long term care planning; veterans and spousal benefits planning; Medicaid asset protection planning; lifetime retirement income plans; family legacy plans; estate and income tax reduction planning; and IRA distribution and tax planning.

My goal is to provide my clients with a plan to allow them to live comfortably in retirement with safe and predictable income, while protecting against the devastating effects of unnecessary taxes, financial market risk, long term care costs, and asset depletion if nursing home care is ever needed.  Finally, I strive to assist my clients in passing their assets at death to a surviving spouse, children, or grandchildren, without unnecessary delays, probate expenses, and tax losses.

I have been helping retirees secure their finances and plan their estates since 1990. In addition to my private practice, I also served five years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Natchitoches Parish Council on Aging, including a year as Vice Chairman.  I have served as an Assistant District Attorney in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, prosecuting felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile crimes, including crimes against the elderly.  I frequently advise other attorneys, CPAs, financial planners, social workers, nurses, and healthcare administrators on issues affecting seniors, and I am often called upon to conduct in-service training, as well as continuing education classes.

I am a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans, and have completed advanced post-graduate work in tax law at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I am Board Certified in Estate Planning and Administration by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. I am a member the National Care Planning Council, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Academy of Special Needs Planners.

I look forward to being of service.
