Aging Gracefully At Home

Linda Pierce, Occupational Therapist

Occupational Therapists provide older adults with the tools to remain safe and independent at home - i.e. aging in place. They provide an evaluation in your home to assess your skills and abilities and recommend changes / modifications to increase safety, ease, and ability now and in the future.

Suggestions may include adding adaptive equipment such as grab bars or stair lifts, lowering counter heights, adding railings, replacing door knobs with lever style handles, widening doorways, etc. Research suggests that up to 1/2 of all home accidents can be prevented by modification and repair.
