  Anne Harbison Lucas, M.S., CMC

Anne Harbison Lucas brings a wide variety of experience to her practice of geriatric care management. She started her career first as a Special Education Teacher - a discipline which promotes starting from known realities, working with what is at hand, and then aiming high for results. When the teaching profession and the educational system changed over the years, Anne chose to leave teaching and enter the business world - where she eventually produced and managed her own high-technology OEM professional conferences and trade shows. Those years in business acquainted her with the more practical side of life and introduced her to a wide range of regional, cultural, and personality styles.

Anne returned to her social service roots by earning a graduate degree in gerontology, and subsequently incorporated her business skills with her training in senior services as director of several long-term care communities in Southern California. During that ten year period, and in coordination with the medical community, she learned how best to deal with memory-loss and related complications, to manage and treat chronic illnesses, and to minimize caregiver hardship and stress. And concurrently, her on-going volunteer work with a local non-profit hospice proved to be one of the happiest and most rewarding experiences of her career.

Since 1998, Anne has owned and operated both a senior-care placement service and a private geriatric care management business. Five of these years were spent in Texas, where self-sufficiency and independence are highly valued. Recognizing how critical it is to respect a senior’s independence, and to promote and preserve that independence to whatever extent possible, is now a keystone of her practice.

Anne returned to Southern California in 2003. Combining the knowledge, insight, and experience gained through such a diverse professional history, she has developed a personalized and integrated model for geriatric care management which satisfies her client’s needs, and those of their families, most effectively and efficiently.
