Area Director, Portland Maine Elder Care Council

Lynn WabwireI'm Lynn Wabwire, and my life's mission is to ensure that every senior receives the care, dignity, and support they deserve. For years, I've worked as a geriatric care nurse specialist and educator, providing home health care and teaching caregivers how to provide services with compassion, integrity, accountability, and excellence.

But my journey didn't stop there. I became the Area Director of the Portland Maine Elder Care Council because I saw a pressing need in our state—too many families are struggling to find care solutions, and Maine like many other states lacks a clear, a one stop, accessible path to family caregiver support and long-term care planning.

Why I Became the Area Director
In Maine, too many families are caught off guard by the realities of aging. They're faced with difficult choices, unsure of where to turn for help, and often without a plan for long-term care.

This is heartbreaking. Most families are either caring for a loved one, living next door to a caregiving family, or employing someone who is a caregiver. Yet, like many families across the country, we lack a single, cohesive solution that gives families the tools and resources they need to navigate these challenges.

That's why I took on the role of Area Director. I want to build a network of the finest elder care providers—bringing together experts who share my vision of compassionate, high-quality care—so that no family in Maine has to feel lost or overwhelmed again.

Our Eldercare Council Mission: A Life of Dignity, a Future of Hope
It is my belief that that growing older should never mean giving up on the quality of life or joy. Me and the members of this council are here to guide families through the complexities of elder care with empathy, understanding, and expertise. Whether you're facing a sudden transition or preparing for the future, we are committed to helping your loved ones live their best lives, filled with meaning and purpose.
